12/12 Reaper opening is the current metagame build in TvZ. Despite that the build gives the Terran player decent map control in the early game, especially with Reactor Hellion follow up, it is vulnerable to early aggression timings. The opinion on Widow Mine so far has been divided. On one camp, it’s too overpowered. Conversely, it’s just right.
This post is about how I feel toward Widow Mine after I have played approximately 20 to 30 1v1 games on Heart of the Swarm till this point. Additionally, it’s also based on the games played in IEM – World Championship.
Taeja used the same build against Dark in today’s Code A matches. He used it in both of the games in his 2-0 victory.
This shows that the build is not a one-off to catch the opponent off guard, but rather it is an evolution of the metagame.
INnoVation advanced to RO8 of GSL Code S after taking down both Sniper and Polt.
What caught my attention is his TvZ build against Sniper.
It is common to go into a long macro game on Cloud Kingdom for TvZ. The locations of the 3rd and 4th base are straight forward, but the choice for 5th is quite tricky.
