Blizzard have just updated the changes they are going to implement on the balance test map. I must say this is better than the previous one.
Terran Mech ground and air attack upgrades combined
Based on the community feedback and Blizzard’s reaction, this should go through.
Widow Mine splash radius decreased from 1.75 to 1.25
By readjusting the radius from 1.10 to 1.25 indicates that Blizzard have strong belief that this is the right direction. The difference may not be that obvious at top level since Zerg know how to deal with Widow Mine to begin with.
Siege Tank attack period decreased from 3 to 2.7
I am unsure if it affects TvZ. Probably Terran will just stick to Widow Mine only anyway.
Roach speed upgrade also increases the burrowed roach movement speed from 1.41 to 2.25
I am interested to know what a Protoss player has to say about this.
Oracle
– Speed increased from 3.375 to 4
– Acceleration increased from 2 to 3
– Revelation range increased from 9 to 10
Speed buff is a NO.
Acceleration buff is not a bad idea as it differentiates good players from not so good ones.
Revelation range buff seems interesting. The reason behind this is to encourage Protoss to use Oracle beyond the early harassment phase. However, I’m not sure if the range increase makes a notable difference. Arguably, the duration of revelation can be increased to serve the purpose.
Thank god Dark Templar did not get buff.

Off topic
I will be going back to university in 2014. Geek Raynor incoming.
I think the Siege Tank change may affect Bio versus mech play in TvT.
That could be an issue. I was discussing it with a friend the other day. What if you cannot form an arc with your marines, and A them to the tanks (TaeJa style).
Yep, I had the same style in mind.
I dont think TvZ and TvP will be affected. since the change is not significant enough to make tank lines less porous against Muta-Ling-bane play since Tank shots do friendly fire to marines that are too close to the zerg units and zergs can close the gap much quickly than the terrans can kill them off. Maybe in high enough numbers they can make a difference. Also tanks are big which means armies can be easily bisected during manoeuvres through tight spaces unlike the widow mines which are pretty mobile.
I think the transition time between siege mode and unsiege mode would have been a better buff…
TvP is still pretty unchanged as far as I can see. The change does not make tanks any more viable against Protoss than before. What do you think?
I expect more Hellbat in TvP with the upgrade buff. However, I cannot visualise the difference the between 3.0 and 2.7 for tanks, so I do not know what to expect. To mix tanks and widow mines, probably that will result in 3 factories (2x tech lab and 1x widow mine).
I might sound a little bit whiny, but I feel TvZ at the highest (korea) lvl is already “figured” out.
There is no much variance for Terran so it was only a matter of time for zerg to adapt.
The Overseer buff was great for zerg.
I just have a really hard time to see how the Mine nerf or even the tank buff is benefical
( I cant see Tank use in the current Mass muta meta)
The recent games suggest that the Overseer has bigger impact on the balance than previously thought. Widow Mines get destroyed much more easily. Let’s see how the match up shape up for the rest of the season.
